Tableaux is an ongoing series of low coffee tables designed by Bruce Rowe in 2023 and produced by Anchor. Varied in size, height, colour and surface, each Tableau in the series is a unique design object that will not be reproduced. Tableaux are paired with a small, raised plinth. The plinths are made using the same techniques and materials as the table. Smaller format Tableau are paired with one plinth and larger format Tableau with two plinths of varied heights. Plinths invite users to place and group objects as they like, elevating them above the base table surface to arrange their own points of view and table scene.
The Tableaux surfaces are drawn from the ceramic inquiry of Anchor’s creative practice. Rich, scenic surfaces and new material combinations are continually revealed in the making process. Tableaux is crafted at the highest level of artisanal making. Ceramic surfaces are developed and refined in the Anchor studio, informed by rigorous testing. The Tableaux and plinths bases are meticulously fabricated by a specialist metalworking team using premium materials and finishes. Commercial, exterior grade materials and finishes allow Tableaux to be used across environments and applications.
